Tea Party Tshirts

If you wanted a t-shirt yesterday, and weren't able to get one before they sold out, please email me ASAP to order. T-shirts are $10 for Adult S-XL and $12 for 2XL and 3XL. (I need 36 shirts to make an order)

Also, I have 18 shirts left over from yesterday - most of them are Kids Small and Medium, with a few Adult Small (might work as a Kid Large). I will sell those shirts, on a first-come first-served basis, for $5.

Here is some final information about the event:

WEATHER: The weather looks to be cooperating – hopefully all of this rain today will move away and tomorrow will by drier and more “tea party friendly”. No matter what, rain or shine, we will party like it’s 1773!!!

PARKING: Below, you will see a map of available parking for the event. One request… If you are young, healthy, and don’t mind the walk, please park at the corner of Main Street and Charlotte Road, in the Fred’s/Courtside Parking lot. This will free up the areas closer to the courthouse for the elderly and people with small children.

Also, First Baptist Rutherfordton is letting us use their parking lots for Tea Party parking, including the field behind the church.

RADIO INTERVIEW: I will have a final pre-party radio interview tomorrow morning on WCAB 59 at approximately 8:15 AM. If you’re up that early, tune in….

COURIER: The Tea Party made the front page of the Daily Courier today! It was a great article - if you haven't seen it already, check it out! They will be covering the event tomorrow, as well.

PICTURES: Also, if you have one, please bring your camera tomorrow. I need between 400-600 pictures for a 3D photosynth that will be done of our Tea Party. If you are able to take pictures, please email them to rutherfordteaparty@gmail.com and put in the subject line: PICTURES. I will put them all together and email them to the group compiling our 3D photosynth. It’s a really cool concept that I had never heard of until yesterday!!! But it’s REALLY cool – and FREE!!!

PJTV: PJTV.com is still looking for Citizen Reporters for the Tea Party. If you are interested, check out their website and sign up. They can use people with cell phones, digital cameras, and/or video cameras. (www.pjtv.com)

I just got off the national conference call...

We now have 250 confirmed cities in all 50 states!!!

Also, Breitbart TV will be broadcasting live all day on Tax Day - and will be getting live feeds from all of the tea parties to show on their webcast.

What an exciting time to be alive!! (Though often scary....)

We've had a great last few days, handing out flyers and gauging the response to the Rutherford Tea Party. The enthusiasm is HUGE!! I am encouraged and excited... Here were some of the responses I received:

"Are you serious!!??!! My friends and I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time - I am so excited" - college-age waiter in Lake Lure

"I have been telling everyone we need a Tea Party! I'm on board!" - small business owner in Rutherfordton

"What can I do to help? (and when I gave her 8 flyers...) Can I get more flyers than that?" - resident of Forest City

"I'll pass the flyers out in downtown Rutherfordton. I think a lot of businesses would be interested." - friend at church

"Put your flyer right on the front door!" - many small business owners in Rutherfordton and Forest City

"Can I have flyers to pass out at work?" - friends of the Tea Party

The response is INCREDIBLE!! I have not been turned down a single time.... I thank God for the support!!

Keep up the GREAT work, friends!! Spread the word!!!

I am so grateful for the wonderful response from the media in Rutherford County! Many local organizers, in other parts of the country, are struggling greatly with their media representatives. We have been blessed!!!

In the national conference call, last night, I learned that there are now 180 CONFIRMED Tax Day Tea Parties!!!

National organizers said that they also have approximately 20 more in the works - what an awesome opportunity to UNITE all across America!!

“Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party” Tens of Thousands Prepare to Gather in Their Local Communities in Protest of Socialism

Rutherfordton, NC – Following the lead of CNBC’s Rick Santelli’s call for a “Chicago Tea Party”, DontGo Movement (www.dontgomovement.com), Smart Girl Politics (www.smartgirlpolitics.ning.com), and tcot (www.topconservativesontwitter.org), worked together to successfully organize over 50 protests across the nation, where over 30,000 people attended. Those were basically “spontaneous”, last minute efforts…organized in literally days.

Building on the success of those February 27th Tea Parties, the word went out from those sponsors about organizing Tax Day Tea Parties, and asking for volunteers in any/every city in the USA. That grassroots effort is called “Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party” (www.taxdayteaparty.com)

Presently Michelle Malkin, Dana Loesch, and GOPUSA, are co-sponsoring the movement. This week, Newt Gingrich announced his decision to step up to the plate as an additional co-sponsor.
The Tax Day Tea Party has been taking the nation by storm; to date, there are over 150 cities in 49 states with confirmed events nationwide.

Rutherfordton, NC is one of those cities. Local resident, Jennifer Naskov, is the volunteer organizer of the local protest (rutherfordteaparty.blogspot.com).

Americans are crossing the political divide, and joining together by the tens of thousands, to protest the fact that government intrusion doesn’t work. "A la the 1773 Boston Tea Party, we’re fed up with the taxation and the government takeover brought on with the Stimulus Bill and the numerous other bailouts. There’s only one proven way to create jobs and that is by cutting income taxes and wasteful spending" said Eric Odom, Director of the DontGo Movement.
The Obama Stimulus Plan will be borrowing an unprecedented amount of money. It is the largest giveaway in American History. Even the Congressional Budget Office says that the Stimulus Bill will create few jobs in 2009 and 2010, but will instead cause dangerously high levels of inflation as the Federal Government lets the Treasury printing presses run indiscriminately.

Communications Director Juliana Johnson states, “We will be heard. The politicians have not been listening to us and we are fed up. If a Tea Party is what they need in order to listen to us, then a Tea Party is what they will get.”

Sign Ideas

Just wanted to give you some ideas for signs to make and bring with you to the Tea Party:

1. Do not make your sign partisan. This is a non-partisan event. Make it about the issues - not a specific political party.

2. Make it catchy!

3. Make it LARGE!!!

4. Be creative, but also poignant.

5. Keep them clean - no profanity, please. We will have children at the Tea Party.
